Adding and editing items
Creating a new item
There are two quick ways to add an item:
- Click the + Add Item button on the Dashboard or Inventory page.
- Press N on your keyboard from most pages.
This opens the Add Item dialog — a two-step wizard.
Step 1 — Photos Upload images of your item right away. Drag and drop files, click to browse, or use your phone's camera on mobile. On desktop, a QR code is shown so you can snap photos from your phone. You can also skip this step and add photos later.

| Name (required) | A title for your item. |
| Category | The type of item (e.g., Art, Coins, Jewelry). Determines which category-specific fields appear. Defaults to No Category. |
| Status | Defaults to Collection. You can also choose Wishlist, Sold, or Archived. |
| Template | If item templates exist for the selected category, a Template dropdown appears. Selecting one pre-fills fields automatically. (Pro+) |
| Notes | Optional private notes. |
| SKU | Click Add SKU in the dialog header to auto-generate a sequential SKU number. |
When ready, choose:
- Create item — opens the item in view mode.
- Create and edit — opens the item in edit mode.
View mode vs. edit mode
When you open an item, it starts in view mode — a clean, read-only layout showing all details.
To make changes, click the Edit button in the toolbar to enter edit mode. In edit mode:
- All fields become editable in collapsible sections.
- Changed fields show an undo indicator so you can revert individual edits.
- Save and Cancel buttons appear to commit or discard your changes.
If you navigate away with unsaved changes, the app warns you so you don't lose work accidentally.
Quick edit
Some fields can be edited directly from view mode without entering full edit mode. Click a field value to make an inline edit — useful for quick corrections like fixing a title or updating a price. Category-specific fields also support quick edit.
Deleting an item
From the item detail page, open the More actions menu (⋯) and choose Delete. You'll be asked to confirm before the item and its associated photos and videos are permanently removed.
